Skyworks introduces FEM for Bluetooth Low Energy/802.15.4/Thread/ZigBee
Supporting Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth Smart, 802.15.4, Thread and ZigBee applications, the SKY66114-11 is the latest 2.4GHz integrated RF front-end module (FEM) from Skyworks.
The module is claimed to be the world’s most efficient and longest range solution for IoT applications, especially within the connected home, wearables and industrial markets. The FEM is suitable for voice assistants, sensors, beacons, smart watches, thermostats, wireless cameras and headphones, medical pendants and hearing aids, says Skyworks.
The SKY66114-11 extends range more than a factor of four and delivers a receive sensitivity improvement of up to 7.0dB when compared to a standalone SoC, claims Skyworks. The compact, 16-pin package measures 2.4 x 2.4 x 0.8mm and integrates a high gain, blow-noise amplifier, transmit bypass path and digital controls and operates over a wide supply voltage range (1.7 to 3.6V), allowing for use in a broad spectrum of battery-powered applications. It also boasts fast switch on/off time (less than 800 nano seconds) to enable rapid timing and multiprotocol arbitration.
