SoC selection targets low power design

Intel Atom, Pentium and Celeron SoCs will be presented at electronica by Seco. They are based on Qseven, embedded NUC, COM Express and SMARC form factors, all of which are targeted at graphics and media applications.

The company will present models in the Qseven form factor, including the Q7-B03 (pictured) a Qseven Rel. 2.1 compliant module with the Intel Atom X series, Intel Celeron J/N series and Intel Pentium N series (formerly code-named Apollo Lake) processors. The module is designed for applications that combine high graphics performance (4K HW video both decoding and encoding) with full functionality at extreme temperature and power efficiency. It features up to 8Gbyte dual-channel DDR3L-1866 RAM and has a number of video interface options, for example HDMI and DP++, eDP and single/dual channel 18/24 LVDS.

The company also offers the SBC-B68-eNUC SBC, equipped with the Intel Atom X series, Intel Celeron J/N series and Intel Pentium N series processors based on the embedded NUC form factor. It mounts a quad channel soldered down LPDDR4 memory, which is up to 8Gbytes. The SBC offers options for mass storage, namely, M.2 SATA SSD slot, SATA 7p M connector as well as a microSD card slot and the possibility to add an onboard eMMC drive. In terms of networking, there are two Gbit LAN/Intel Gigabit Ethernet i21x family controller, an M.2 WWAN slot for modems and an M.2 WLAN connectivity slot for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. Video interface options are two miniDP and one eDP.

Visitors to Seco in Hall B5 – 111 will also see the COM Express COMe-C24-CT6, with up to 8Gbyte DDR3L memory on two SO-DIMM slots. Available in the industrial temperature range, it has up to three independent displays for simultaneous display in 4K resolution. Decoding/encoding capabilities support several video compression standards, including HEVC (H. 265), H.264, MVC, VP8, VP9 and JPEG/MPEG formats.

Finally, the SM-B69 is Seco’s latest SMARC form factor Rel. 2.0-compliant module with the Intel Atom X series, Intel Celeron J/N series and Intel Pentium N series processors. It is currently under development and features up to 8Gbyte LPDDR4 onboard, integrated Gen9-LP HD graphics controller with 18 execution units, 4K hardware decoding and encoding of HEVC (H.265), H. 264, up to two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and an Intel I210 or I211 controller (MAC + PHY).
