Surf microwave RF solutions meet growing demand for GHz bandwidths

Targeting RF and mmWave applications, SuRF is the latest range of high frequency, high bandwidth RFICS and MMICs from CML Microcircuits. The SuRF semiconductor microwave RF range addresses the demand for faster downloads and more data that drive bandwidths up and move wireless communications further into the GHZ range by democratising mmWave design, with what is said to be “easy-to-use unique solutions” in standard IC packaging. The SuRF family will help simplify design, evaluation and manufacture for engineers, says CML Microcircuits. Applications that need higher bandwidth include virtual and augmented reality, high-definition imaging, high-performance computing and connected cars.

“The demand for easily accessible RF excellence in the GHz and mmWave band is building rapidly,” said Mark McCabe, managing director, CML Microcircuits. “The new SuRF product range provides an exciting opportunity for us to partner with some of the most advanced communications companies around the world in delivering leading-edge RF and mmWave solutions.”

CML is using its experience in advanced IC design to provide continuity from the sub-GHz frequencies up to 100 GHz and potentially beyond and this wide frequency spectrum will address the majority of new and existing applications. It will service the Internet of Things, from long-range data links and the smart grid, to emerging applications in 5G, such as pico-cells and fixed-line broadband, as well as global broadband networks and satellite communications.

The products will be supported by simple to use, low-cost evaluation tools, allowing engineers to quickly explore the benefits they bring. These benefits, says the company, include excellent RF performance, matched input-output impedances and standard IC packaging.

CML Microcircuits is a leader in the design, development and supply of low-power analogue, digital and mixed-signal semiconductors for telecommunications systems globally. The company’s varied portfolio means that CML devices can be used in a range of industrial and commercial products for licensed and unlicensed wireless voice and data systems.

In addition to the CML’s established range of devices, the company offers bespoke solutions to customers. This service includes design assistance, advice and first-class technical support.
