TCXO operates are high temperatures for automotive applications

Designed for precision time keeping, Epson’s RA8804 automotive digitally temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (DTCXO) technology achieves ±3.4 or ±8 parts per million (ppm) accuracy over temperature of -40 to +85 degrees C or -40 to +105 desgrees C respectively, equivalent to nine or 20 seconds per month. This high accuracy is essential for precise time keeping, as required by car clocks, infotainment, battery management, and other automotive applications, points out Epson.

The RA8804 includes a crystal, a DTCXO and counters to keep track of time and date. It also includes automatic battery back-up and time-keeping functions such as alarms and timers.

The supply voltage of 1.6 to 5.5V and low power (0.35 microA (typ) backup current) are combined with a frequency output pin which can be programmed to one or 1024Hz, or 32.768kHz. The package measures 3.2 x 2.5 x 1.0mm3.

Epson manufactures the RA8804 on a dedicated automotive line and meets the automotive quality standard AEC-Q100.
