Thin film, common mode filters have high attenuation for mobile devices
The increased multi-functionality of wireless devices such as smartphones, wearables and other mobile products results in noises generated inside the devices deteriorating wireless signals. To prevent the deterioration of signal reception sensitivity and to prevent external noise that has the potential to cause device malfunction TDK has reduced both the footprint and the weight of thin film, common mode filters to produce the TCM0403M series.
The use of thin film means that the footprint is 58 per cent smaller and they weigh 56% less than existing products, said the company.
The TCM0403M series of filters are offered in 0403 case size (0.45 x 0.3 x 0.23mm) and use TDK’s proprietary fine pattern technology. The common mode attenuation equals existing products, said TDK, to reduce intruding noise and to improve wireless signal reception sensitivity.
The common mode attenuation at 2.4GHz is 21dB, and 28dB at 5.0GHz, with a maximum permissible current of 50mA. Its differential transmission is capable of supporting high speed signal transmission.
The filters can be used in high speed differential interfaces, such as USB, MIPI and HDMI, in mobile devices.
The TCM0403M series filters are in mass production.
