Three 200V MV MOSFETs tackle LEV motor and industrial power
Magnachip Semiconductor has introduced three 200V MV MOSFETs, suited for LEV motor controllers (such as those for e-bikes) and industrial power supplies.
The MDT20N109PTRH, the MDY20N113PTRH and the MDP20N116PTTH 200V MOSFETs are based on Magnachip’s third generation trench MOSFET technology. The capacitance MDT20N109PTRH has been reduced by 50 per cent compared to the previous generation 100V MV MOSFET and the enhanced design of the core cell and termination helps lower RDS(on) and total gate charge to achieve a high figure of merit, claimed the company.
The third-generation MOSFETs are available in surface mount device TO-leadless package (MDT20N109PTRH), M2PAK (MDY20N113PTRH) and TO-220 through-hole type (MDP20N116PTTH) reduce final product size and enhance heat dissipation. Magnachip added that the MOSFETs’ energy efficiency is increased by fast switching and high power density.
The guaranteed operating junction temperature range is from -55 up to +175 degrees C and the MOSFETs exhibit a high level of avalanche ruggedness, said Magnachip, making them suitable for LEV motor controllers and industrial power supplies which require high efficiency and stable power supply.
Market research firm, Omdia, estimates that the annual growth rates of the automotive and industrial sectors of the global silicon power MOSFET market will be 11.5 and 9.6 per cent respectively from 2020 to 2025. In particular, LEV markets are expanding quickly as governments accelerate decarbonisation and consumers demand efficient and affordable vehicles.
