Time-sensitive network IP provides deterministic industrial Ethernet
A time-sensitive network (TSN) IP has been developed by Socionext and provides true deterministic Ethernet for industrial applications. It is compliant with the next-generation Ethernet TSN (communication standard IEEE 802.1 subset) and its evaluation environment.
The TSN IP has include support for a two-port daisy chain topology for connecting industrial equipment, 1Gbit per second high-speed operation, low latency less than 400ns and low jitter less than 0.1 micro seconds.
The IP enables a range of industrial applications such as motion controllers, which require faster response control as well as TSN support and remote I/O, used in network communications to control secured bandwidth and low latency. The network seamlessly connects and interoperates networks for IT operational technology (OT).
An FPGA evaluation board and start-up manual for IP implementation with Linux open source driver software allows users to quickly evaluate and develop industrial applications equipped with TSN. Socionext support includes a seamless transition from FPGA to ASIC and helping customers develop custom ASICs for optimum functionalities and performance with the IP.
The TSN IP will be showcased at Embedded World (25 to 27 February, in Nuremberg, Germany: Hall 3A, Booth 129.
