Tiny signal transformers expand Würth Elektronik’s LAN range

Expanding the available signal transformers range, Würth Elektronik has announced the WE-STST transformers for LAN interfaces. They feature a maximum component height of just 2.9mm and can be used up to 1000Base-T applications with at least 350 microH inductance.

The WE-STST series of signal transformers is suited to all applications requiring small component size and “outstanding” electronic parameters. Unlike conventional transformers, which usually consist of toroidal ferrites in plastic housings, the Super Tiny Signal Transformers are manufactured completely by machine. This enables the dimensions to be kept extremely small at only 4.7 x 3.22 x 2.9mm, reports the company, while offering an insulation voltage of 1,500V/minute.

There are four versions for different applications. The first version with 350 microH is suitable for LAN applications with data rates up to 1,000 Mbits per second. The WE-STST with 120 microH features outstanding signal integrity at high frequencies and is suitable for 10Gbit Ethernet applications or for the new Single Pair Ethernet with data rates up to 1,000 Mbits per second. Further versions with 300 or 2,000 microH are suitable for ultrasonic sensor applications and as transformers for the new G.fast standard with a transmission ratio of 1:4.5.

All four WE-STST versions are now available from stock without a minimum order quantity. Samples may be requested.
