Toshiba introduces two CCD linear image sensors for faster AOI

Two 1500pixel image sensor arrays from Toshiba Electronics Europe accelerate throughput figures for automated optical inspection (AOI). The company has introduced the two lens reduction type CCD linear image sensors to its range of optoelectronic devices.

The TCD1105GFG and TCD1106GFG are designed for barcodes scanners as well as AOI systems. The 1500 pixel monochrome devices have a 5.25 micron pixel pitch.

The TCD1105GFG has a 125V/lux-sec sensitivity and the TCD1106GFG is rated at 600V/lux-sec for dynamic ranges of 400 (TCD1106GFG) and 90 (TCD1105GFG). The TCD1105GFG also includes a built-in electronic shutter.

The image sensor arrays support a maximum data rate of 25MHz for increased inspection throughput speeds. Integrated timing generators reduce the need for external driving circuitry which reduces component cost, reports Toshiba. The sample and hold mechanisms in both image sensors mean that video output signal periods can be extended.

The sensor arrays operate from a 3.3V supply, and are claimed to have a “much lower” power consumption than competing imaging devices. Both the TCD1105GFG and TCD1106GFG are supplied in 16-pin GLCC packages and have an operational temperature range of 0 to +60 degrees C.
