Tridonic and Casambi partnership controls lighting wirelessly

Tridonic and Casambi have developed a wireless light management, based on Casambi’s Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and using Tridonic’s basicDIM Wireless system.

The interconnected and interoperable management system wirelessly connects luminaires.

Existing lighting infrastructures can be easily updated and fitted with additional features, adds Casambi.

Tridonic’s basicDIM Wireless range of interoperable devices consists of LED drivers, communication modules, sensors, a user-interface as well as software in the form of the 4remote BT App.

“Close co-operation in the development and testing phases between our companies has proven extremely fertile and we are proud to now market the new system”, explains Bert Tuyt, senior director global systems at Tridonic.

“We are proud to have found a partner in Tridonic that uses these pillars to develop and market Casambi Ready solutions, says Casambi founder, Timo Pakkala.

basicDIM Wireless brings wireless luminaire communication without requiring any additional wiring or construction. It is controlled via Bluetooth, with on/off switching as well as dimming functions as simple as grouping luminaires and creating lighting settings, says Casambi, for office buildings or classrooms, with multi-functional intelligence.

Using the basicDIM Wireless system, luminaires can either be fitted with Casambi Ready Tridonic LED drivers or be upgraded with basicDIM Wireless Modules. Interoperable basicDIM Wireless Sensors can be added to enable daylight management and presence detection. The Casambi Ready basicDIM Wireless technology enables energy savings in open-plan offices, design flexibility for conference rooms, personalised lighting for offices and the control to illuminate spaces with a soft or energising light.

Tridonic supplies lighting supported with intelligent hardware and software and offering the highest level of quality, reliability and energy savings. Tridonic develops scalable, future-oriented solutions that enable new business models for lighting manufacturers, building managers, systems integrators, planners and many other types of customers.

Founded in 2011, Casambi’s wireless lighting control software platform empowers users of smart devices to interact effortlessly with modern lighting around them. Based on Bluetooth Low Energy, the lighting control delivers a dynamic user experience, from basic, individual lighting-fixture controls to industrial-scale solutions with cloud-based remote control, monitoring and data logging, Casambi’s technology can be easily integrated at low cost into lighting fixtures, drivers and modules. Additionally, installations can gain advanced lighting control functionality with minimal hardware and deployment outlay, says Casambi.

The products are developed in Finland and the company has a growing sales and support service across Europe, North America and Asia.
