TTI Europe strengthens defence supply chains with stocked VG-qualified connector series

TTI IP&E – Europe is strengthening its European defence supply chains by stocking and offering qualified assembly of VG-certified connector series designed to meet the demanding technical, environmental and lead-time requirements of defence-related systems.

Developed to stringent German defence specifications, VG (Verteidigungsgerätenorm) standards are widely recognised for their robustness, reliability and long-term performance in harsh operating environments – comparable to MIL-SPEC. By maintaining a stock of key VG-qualified connector series and associated components, TTI IP&E – Europe helps defence OEMs and system integrators reduce programme risk, improve supply continuity, and mitigate extended industry lead times, which have become a significant challenge for many projects.

In parallel, TTI IP&E – Europe is supporting the sector’s transition away from cadmium-based finishes. Its VG-qualified portfolio includes connector solutions featuring tin-zinc “J-plating”, providing a RoHS and REACH-compliant alternative that maintains equivalent corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity and shielding performance. This enables compliance with evolving regulatory and procurement requirements without compromising functional or environmental performance.

“VG-qualified connectors continue to play a vital role in land-based defence platforms, particularly in Germany, where these standards are well established,” says Lee Thompson, European Marketing Director, Defence, Aerospace & Space markets, TTI IP&E – Europe. “We are now seeing broader adoption across Europe, driven by the need for proven performance, comparable to MIL-SPEC, and reliable availability. By stocking VG-qualified series and supporting the transition to cadmium-free J-plating, we are helping customers strengthen their supply chains while achieving the more stringent RoHS/REACH compliance requirements.”
