TTI stocks high power LTKAK TVS diodes from Littelfuse

Claimed to offer superior clamping compared to standard silicon avalanche diodes, the LTKAK series TVS diodes from Littelfuse are now in stock at TTI.

They are offered in a compact SMT package which saves board space and simplifies manufacturing, says the company. The diodes are suitable for over-voltage protection, railway, defence, avionics, power grid and industrial transient voltage surge suppressors.

Available in Europe through specialist distributor of electronic components, TTI, the diodes offer superior clamping characteristics compared to standard silicon avalanche diodes, says Littelfuse. The LTKAK series features Littelfuse Foldbak technology, which provides a clamping voltage lower than avalanche voltage but above rated working voltage.  The SMTO-218 package is compact and enables designers to save board space. It is also easier to manufacture than current AK TVS families, adds Littelfuse.

Suitable applications for the Littelfuse LTKAK series diodes includes mobile phone basestations, industrial transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSS), railway trackside signaling and control cabinets, power grid and power distribution systems and defence and avionics applications.

There are two families of devices in the LTKAK series TVS diodes, the LTKAK6 and LTKAK10. Both offer superior clamping characteristics over standard SAD technologies says Littelfuse, due to its Foldbak technology. This provides a clamping voltage lower than the avalanche voltage (but above the rated working voltage). Any voltage rise due to increased current conduction is kept to a minimum, providing the best possible protection level.  Surge protection is rated at 6kA surge capability for the LTKAK6 and 10kA surge capability for the LTKAK10 (eight x 2-micro seconds waveform). A high power TVS design in a compact and innovative SMT package, the LTKAK6 and LTKAK10 can also be connected in series and/or parallel to create various capability and flexible protection options.

TTI is an authorised, specialty distributor of interconnect, passive and electromechanical (IP&E) components, serving industrial and consumer electronics manufacturers worldwide. Along with its subsidiaries, Mouser Electronics, Sager Electronics, and Symmetry Electronics, TTI employs over 5,400 employees and is represented in over 100 locations throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
