Variable resistors from TT Electronics save space in audio equipment
Three new product lines and three series expansions released by TT Electronics are intended for use in professional audio equipment. The additions include one new encoder series and two new single turn potentiometer families, and new members to three existing potentiometer families.
All are suitable for of professional audio applications, including electric guitars, amplifiers, and mixers as well as for rugged industrial applications such as welding equipment and machine controls.
“With more technical variations than ever before, our portfolio offers designers greater flexibility to enhance the quality and reliability of their end products,” said Barry Peters, vice president of product management and engineering at TT Electronics.
The EN05 series miniature rotary encoder is for precision control of small portable equipment. EN05 rotary encoders are designed for long life (100,000 cycles minimum) and supplied in a 5.8mm wide package. The compact size and hollow shaft design make the EN05 encoder particularly suitable for applications where space is limited but precise functionality control is required, such as computer accessories and electronic devices.
The P166 (pictured) and P265 rotary potentiometer families offer a wide range of resistance, from 500 Ohm to 1MOhm, and are designed to meet modern wave soldering processes. They are available with a variety of taper, shaft, bushing, multi-gang, multi-output, and switch options. The P265 series contains an internal shaft seal for moisture protection and complies with PCB wash requirements and MIL-R-94 standards, where required. Application uses for the P166 include amplifiers, mixers, synthesisers, appliances, audio/car radio, and industrial controls. The P265 can be used in audio visual equipment, test and measurement equipment, walkie talkies, portable radios, and laboratory equipment.
TT Electronics has also added upgraded models to the P09x and P260 series. The P09x is now available with concentric shafts (P09xC) and centre tap styles (P09xT) and are suitable for audio equipment, amplifiers, mixers, TV and multimedia sound systems, headphones, and portable radios. The P260 series offers a P260L with standard wire lead and a P260R with standard ribbon lengths. The P270 series includes the P279, which has a heavy duty bushing style and seven new electrical angles, ideal for foot pedal and machine controls and welding equipment.
TT Electronics designs and manufactures sensors, power management and connectivity solutions for healthcare, aerospace, defence, electrification and automation. TT invests in R&D to create designed-in products where reliability is mission critical. It has design and manufacturing facilities in the UK, North America, Sweden and Asia.
