Versatile embedded AMC board has reconfigurable FPGA

VadaTech has introduced the AMC573 Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC FPGA board. It uses the Xilinx XCZU28DR RFSoC and is compliant to AMC.1, AMC.2, AMC.3 and AMC.4 specifications, confirms VadaTech. The onboard FPGA is re-configurable and interfaces directly to the AMC FCLKA, TCLKA-D. The module has two banks of 64-bit wide DDR4 memory with 16Gbyte of error code correction (ECC), which allows for large buffer sizes to be stored during processing as well as for queuing the data to the host.

The XCZU28DR RFSoC includes a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 application processing unit and dual-core Cortex-R5 real-time processing as well as over 4,200 DSP, 930,000 logic cells and over 60Mbit of internal memory (including 22.5Mbit of UltraRAM). The chip also includes a soft-decision forward error correction (FEC) block supporting low-density parity check (LDPC) decode/encode and Turbo decode for use in 5G wireless, backhaul, Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification DOCSIS and LTE applications. The AMC573 has onboard 64Gbyte of flash, 128Mbyte of boot flash and an optional SD card.

The front panel incorporates 18 high-density RF coaxial connectors routed to the eight ADC (12-bit at 4Gsamples per second) and eight DAC (14-bit at 6.4Gsamples per second) in the RFSoC. There are also trig-in, trig-out, clock inputs, dual USB, dual serial ports via MicroUSB, a DisplayPort interface and a high-density connector for external I/O. The default I/O is eight low voltage differential signalling (LVDS) or single ended +1.8V I/O but this can be modified to meet a customer’s requirements.

VadaTech provides embedded computing board-level products, chassis-level platforms and configurable application-ready systems. The company focuses on AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, VPX and PCIe solutions. Company expertise combines electrical, mechanical, software, and system-level skills to provide customised commercial or rugged computing solutions to meet the most complex customer requirements, claims the company.

VadaTech also offers specialised product solutions for VME, CompactPCI and other architectures. The company is a member of PICMG and VITA, and has headquarters, design and manufacturing facilities in Henderson, Nevada, USA, with design, support and sales offices in Europe and Asia Pacific.
