Versatile PC104 data acquisition module has eight ADC channels

Supporting PCIe/104 OneBank and PC/104 Express, the versatile PX1-1440-ADC module from Winsystems is versatile and accommodates varying interface voltages, making it particularly suitable for control and manufacturing applications as well as automotive use.

Winsystems’ technical sales director, George T Hilliard said: “Not only does our 16-bit PX1-I440-ADC provide the flexibility of reading eight different voltage ranges, it supports inputs for 4.0 to 20mA current loop devices, with optional high-precision resistors populated onboard”. He said users “will appreciate its accuracy and adaptability in reading analogue signals from different sensors, transducers and other devices with varying interface voltages. This is especially critical for applications that provide information to control processes, vehicles and manufacturing”.

Described as a space-efficient extension of Winsystems’ I/O module offerings, the PX1-I440-AD is based on the Analog Devices’ LTC2335-16 analogue to digital converter (ADC). It has been designed with the features most requested by designers of industrial systems who otherwise have to resort to external devices or multiple adapters to attain the same functionality, says Winsystems. It accommodates eight differential inputs with voltages ranges of 0V to 5V, OV to 5.12V, ±5V, ±5.12V, OV to 10V, OV to 10.24V, ±10V and ±10.24V.

The module in the PC104 form factor with PCIe/104 OneBank expansion also offers a -40 to +85 degrees C operating temperature range and availability in excess of 10 years, added Hilliard. Target applications are industrial IoT, transportation, energy management, industrial automation and medical diagnostics applications.

The PX1-I440-ADC also offers 16-bit resolution. Custom populations are available for OEMs that require configurations different to standard products.

The module is scheduled for release in Q3, 2020 and will join the company’s existing single board computers (SBCs), such as the Intel E3900-powered PX1-C4515, and CPUs from PC/104 suppliers.

Winsystems was established in 1982. It designs and manufactures embedded SBCs, I/O modules, panel PCs and industrial Ethernet switches that operate over extended temperatures. The portfolio of reliable products are engineered for demanding requirements and harsh environments, including industrial IoT, industrial automation/control, transportation management, energy management, Mil-COTS, medical, digital signage and communications applications.

Winsystems is certified to ISO 9001:2015.
