Vertical helical antennae are compact for LoRaWAN and Sigfox applications
Compact, surface mount, vertical helical antennae have been developed by Linx Technologies for 868 MHz and 915 MHz applications
The helical ANT-868-VHETH and ANT-915-VHETH antennae are designed for low power, wide area (LPWA) applications including LoRaWAN and Sigfox, remote controls and ISM (industrial, scientific and medical) band applications.
The ANT-868-VHETH and ANT-915-VHETH antennae are made from 0.6mm diameter nickel-plated, high carbon steel for use in PCB mount installations which require a rugged, compact, and omni-directional embedded antenna. The connector-style base of the antenna ensures proper mounting for uniform performance in high-volume manufacturing, adds the company.
According to Linx CEO, Tolga Latif, the company’s traditional horizontal helical coil antennae are popular because of their low cost and good performance. The two new vertical helical antennae improve upon the classic by providing a vertical coil configuration with better omni-directionality and requiring even less space, he said. “The use of a standard four-pin connector-style base for the antenna also makes it easier to achieve consistent PCB mounting during manufacturing,” he adds.
