Vishay Intertechnology releases HV 193 Pur-Si solar series
Snap-in power aluminium capacitors in the 193 Pur-Si solar series have been upgraded by Vishay BCcomponents. Enhancements include lowering the cost of solar PV inverters and the devices are rated up to 570V at +60 degrees C. In addition to solar PV inverters, they are suitable for use in industrial motor controls and power supplies.
The snap-in power aluminium capacitors have a higher rated voltage of 570V and a category voltage of 475V. Operation is up to 600 V at specific conditions, with a high rated ripple current up to 2.46A at +105 degrees C and 100Hz.
At 570V, the enhanced 193 Pur-Si Solar series devices feature a maximum operating temperature to +60 degrees C and long life of 5,000 hours (no ripple current applied).
At 475V, the maximum temperature can be extended to +105 degrees C, and the useful life is 6,000 hours. The components are able to fulfill the open-circuit voltage condition up to 600V and lower the overall cost of solar PV inverters, said Vishay BCcomponents, by reducing the number of electrolytic capacitors required. This allows designers to use one capacitor for string input voltages of 600V and two for 1200V.
The capacitors’ cylindrical aluminium case has a pressure relief valve and is insulated with a blue sleeve. They are available in five case sizes ranging from 35 x 30mm to 35 x 60mm.
The polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte are RoHS-compliant devices suitable for DC-Link buffering and filtering applications.

Samples and low quantity demands are available at catalogue houses, advised Vishay. Production quantities of the upgraded 193 Pur-Si Solar series capacitors are available now, with lead times of 19 to 21 weeks.
Vishay says it manufactures one of the world’s largest portfolios of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components for the automotive, industrial, computing, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical markets.
