VPG metal strip power resistors are added to New Yorker Electronics portfolio

Metal strip power resistors from Vishay Precision Group’s (VPG) have been added to the metal strip power resistor portfolio at New Yorker Electronics. The VPG CSM product family of two-terminal current power resistors operate repeatedly under high stress conditions, said the distributor. 

The VPG metal strip power resistors are used for medical and automatic test equipment, communication systems, power amplifiers, high current applications and are suitable for use in the automotive market. Each possesses a resistance tolerance to ±0.1 per cent and a working temperature between -65 to +170 degrees C. Proprietary techniques create low resistance values and improved TCR (temperature co-efficient of resistance), said New Yorker Electronics.

The CSM series of current power resistors consists of CSM2817, CSM2512A, CSM4026Y, CSM3920A, CSM5930A and the bulk metal CSM2726Y.

The CSM2817 series has a small footprint at 0.25 x 0.169 x 0.039 inches (6.35 x 4.29 x 9.9mm). It features a temperature co-efficient of resistance to ±50 ppm / degrees C maximum (20 to +120 degrees C), a power rating to 5W, a maximum current to 70A and a resistance range of 1.0 to 100 mOhm. It has a short time overload of ±0.3 per cent. The E-Beam welding construction consists of copper terminals and NiCr resistive element. 

The CSM2512A series is 0.248 x 0.122 inches (6.29 x 3.09mm).  It has a temperature co-efficient of resistance to ±70 ppm / degrees C maximum (20 to 120 degrees C). It offers a power rating to 6W, a resistance range of 0.2 to 5 mOhm, a maximum current of up to 173A and a short time overload of ±0.5 per cent.

CSM4026Y Series is 0.469in x 0.260in x 0.138in (11.91 x 6.6 x 3.5mm) and features a temperature co-efficient of resistance to ±40 ppm / degrees C maximum (-55 to +125 degrees C, +25 degrees C). Its power rating is to 7W, its resistance range is from 0.3 to 3.0 mOhm with a short time overload to ±0.5 per cent and a maximum current rated to 129A.

CSM3920A Series is 0.394 x 0.201 inches (10 x 5.1mm) with various height options. It boasts a power rating of up to 12W with, a maximum current to 244A, a resistance range of 0.2 to 4.0 mOhm. It also has a short time overload of ±0.5 per cent and low inductance of less than 3nH.

CSM5930A Series is 0.591in x 0.299in (15.01 x 7.59mm) and features a temperature co-efficient of resistance to ±50 ppm / degrees C maximum (20 to 120 degrees C), a power rating to 15W and a resistance range of 0.1 to 3.0mΩ. Its short time overload is ±0.5 per cent with a maximum current up to 387A. 

The Bulk Metal CSM2726Y series is 0.272 x 0.260 x 0.138 inches (6.9 x 6.6 x 3.5mm). It has a temperature co-efficient of resistance to ±40 ppm / degrees C maximum (-55 to +125 degrees C, +25 degrees C), a power rating to 7W and a resistance range of 0.5 to 3.0 mOhm. It also has a short time overload of ±0.5 per cent and a maximum current rating to 100A. 

All of these VPG resistors are designed for switching and linear power supplies, power management systems, measurement instrumentation, frequency converters and high current applications for the automotive market.
