VPN router is compact for IIoT gateways

Industrial IoT (IIoT) gateways from Insys icom, can be used in classic and modern industrial IoT environments.

The SCR series comprises routers with a compact, flexibly mountable housing. They are available as 4G and local area network (LAN) versions, both with digital I/Os. IP-based and serial devices can be connected locally.

The multi-functional SCR routers makes it easy to retrofit existing plants and transform them into modern, industrial IoT environments, says the company. The compact housing and the two mounting directions make the IIoT gateway suitable for switch cabinets in industrial environments as well as building connection boxes. The SCR series features the icom operating system (icom OS) and the icom SmartBox Linux environment. This virtual environment allows the user to execute scripts and programs or store and process data in ‘containers’ (LXC) on the router, which are independent of each other. Therefore, the SCR is not only suitable for secure remote maintenance but also as a cost-effective solution for edge computing applications like condition monitoring or data analytics, adds Insys. Conditions and values of connected devices can be monitored independently of the protocol and various cloud services can be connected for applications like reporting or benchmarking. Stateful firewall and VPN functionality, for example using the VPN service icom Connectivity Suite, provide IT security.
