VPX storage boards are VITA 65-compliant

FPGA board and system supplier, Annapolis Micro Systems, has developed 100GbE storage boards that are Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) -aligned and VITA 65-compliant. They are designed to handle high bandwidth and high density data recording requirements.

The company offers two options. The first is the Wildstar 6SN0 6U OpenVPX storage board which features 64Tbytes of capacity in a single one-inch 6U slot, and up to 10 Gbytes per second read/write bandwidth. The 6SN0 is shipping now.

The Wildstar 3SN0 3U OpenVPX storage board features 32Tbyte capacity in a single one-inch 3U slot and up to 5Gbytes per second read/write bandwidth. Orders are now being accepted for 3SN0, with shipping starting in June 2020.

Both boards feature a powerful Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC, which allows for standalone operation. It also allows for several interfaces to operate simultaneously, with PCIe, Aurora, 40/100GbE and user-defined protocol options.

The MPSoC also delivers multiple levels of hardware and software security.

Annapolis claims that industry-leading bandwidth is made possible by 25Gbits per second and above FPGA transceivers and high-density MultiGig RT3 backplane interconnects, which deliver 100Gbits per fat pipe. VITA 66 optical I/O is available to the backplane or front panel.

Annapolis storage boards are built for deployment in harsh environments. They have a rugged design and are available in industrial temperature grades, with air, conduction, air-flow-through, or liquid cooling. The boards are hot swappable and backplane connectors are rated for 10,000 insertion cycles.

The 6SN0 and 3SN0 Storage Boards can be readily integrated into any SOSA-aligned VPX system, or deployed within Annapolis’ Wild100 ecosystem. The ecosystem is an interoperable portfolio of rugged high-performance 100GbE COTS boards and systems.

Annapolis specialises in high performance products designed for advanced HPC, ISR, and multi-function EW applications, including phased array radar, cybersecurity network processing, DRFM, beamforming, sensor processing, wireless communication and radar signal processing.
