Wolfspeed buck boost eval kit is available from Richardson RFPD
The KIT-CRD-3DD12P buck boost evaluation kit has been optimised by Wolfspeed to demonstrate the high-speed switching capability of its 3rd generation (C3M) silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs. The eval kit is now available from Richardson RFPD.
The KIT-CRD-3DD12P features SMA connectors for monitoring the gate-to-source voltage. The connectors offer cleaner waveforms than traditional probes and ground leads, explains Richardson.
The evaluation kit supports four- and three-lead TO-247 package MOSFETs, as well as diodes in TO-247 and TO-220 packages. It has a heatsink, thermal interface, inductor, needed hardware, and two Wolfspeed C3M MOSFETs.
The KIT-CRD-3DD12P can be run as a boost or as a buck converter. It supports a variety of topologies, namely synchronous boost converter, synchronous buck converter, non-synchronous boost converter, non-synchronous buck converter and half bridge. Two kits are required for full bridge topologies.
The kit is specified to 800V DC maximum output and 2,500W output power. Higher power operation is possible with a different inductor, notes Richardson. The switching frequency is 100kHz, although higher frequency operation is possible, this may require a different inductor.
