Würth Elektronik adds snap-in terminals for EDLC supercapacitors
Described as a new class of EDLC (electrical double layer capacitor), the WCAP-SISC supercapacitors are designed with snap-in terminals.
They are available from Würth Elektronik and have capacitance values of 100 and 350F. This range makes them suitable for applications with high power and high energy requirements such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) or energy storage, said the company. They can be used in smart metering devices, network components or energy harvesting applications.
WCAP-SISC attains a rated current of up to 75A. Energy density is higher compared with conventional capacitors which has made the WCAP-SIC double-layer capacitors an environmentally friendly alternative to batteries, said Würth Elektronik. Compared to Li-ion batteries, the supercapacitor with activated carbon technology offers fast charging, very long service life with 500,000 cycles and a lower fire hazard. The capacitance tolerance is -10 / +30 per cent, the rated voltage is 2.7V. WCAP-SISC can be used at an operating temperature of -40 to +65 degrees C.
The 100F and 350F supercapacitors are now available from stock without a minimum order quantity, and free samples can be ordered online or through a sales representative.
