Würth Elektronik optimises UV LEDs for hygiene or horticultural use

Two additions to the WL-SUMW series of LEDs in the optoelectronics portfolio from Würth Elektronik now include more powerful UV-C LEDs for sterilisation applications and the low profile WL-SUTW UV-A LEDs which are for use in horticulture.

Würth Elektronik has expanded the WL-SUMW series with the addition of two 275nm UV-C LEDs, with higher optical powers of 20 and 50mW. The UV-C LEDs can be used for sterilisation, surface disinfection, water and air purification.

The new WL-SUTW product series consists of UV-A LEDs offered in the flat SMD design PLCC2 package. The LEDs are available with wavelengths from 365 to 405nm. Typical applications for the UV-A LEDs include UV curing, sensing and counterfeit detection. The LEDs can also be used for special horticulture applications.

Wurth Elektronik provides information on plant cultivation with LEDs and special light recipes on its horticulture web page.

The new components, as is the case with the rest of the range, are available immediately from stock and are also provided as free samples. Light distribution can be simulated using Rayfiles which can be downloaded from the online catalogue as an additional service.
