Yamaichi adds metal cover to RJ45 series Y-Con range
Originally developed for tough industrial applications, the RJ45 series Y-Con from Yamaichi Electronics is a flexible, modular and expandable connector product line. The RJ45 models meet the requirements of protection ratings IP20, IP67, IP68 and IP69K.
Within the product line, the Y-Con Cover-40, has been replaced with a model that has a new metal cover. The Y-Con Cover-40 PP with push-pull locking facilitates and simplifies handling, claimed Yamaichi. The cover automatically locks or unlocks during the plugging or unplugging process.
The new cover also complies with protection ratings IP67, IP68 and IP69K, making it suitable for use in harsh industrial environments. The connector design is robust, said Yamaichi, with temperature resistance and is durable and largely protected against vibrations. It use means data and optional power transmission is reliable, added the company.
The new cover is backwards-compatible with other IP67, IP68 or IP69K components already in use can be connected.
The metal cover can be installed in the usual self-assembly manner with Y-Con cable plugs and cables. The number of individual parts has been lowered to reduce complexity and the error rate during assembly, claimed Yamaichi.
The Y-Con Cover-40 PP also offers an enlarged sealing surface and improved EMI protection. The cover allows the for the use of different cable diameters from 6.1 to 7.1mm.
According to Yamaichi, the Y-Con RJ45 is the only industrial connector system for industrial Ethernet, Profinet and fieldbuses that optionally includes two additional, fully integrated contacts for a power supply based on the RJ45 specification. Up to 3.1A can be transmitted via these contacts.
The lock can be released with a screwdriver and the design includes stainless steel locking hooks. The robust metal housing is made of zinc die-cast and is claimed to offer high mechanical stability.
The operating temperature is -40 to +120 degrees C.
