ZF conductive polymer hybrid capacitor series is for automotive use

Expanding its conductive polymer hybrid aluminium electrolytic capacitor range, Panasonic Industry Europe has introduced the ZF series of products, rated at 1,000 hours at 150 degree C. This, says Panasonic, enables devices to support cutting-edge power train and engine-mounted applications in the automotive sector. Besides the high temperature rating, ZF Series hybrid capacitors are the first available in through-hole technology, says Panasonic.

Hybrid capacitors are suitable for high-endurance and high-performance application that also require miniaturisation. The conductive polymer hybrid enables stable and very low ESR across the full temperature range of -55 to +150 degree C. Ripple currents in the order of 1A rms can be dealt with at peak voltage and temperature while maintaining ESR as low as 20mOhm. The ripple current capability, as well as the lifetime of the capacitor, increases as temperature reduces, making the ZF capacitors particularly suitable for specialised applications that experience broad applied ripple and ambient temperatures.

Rated voltage is 25 to 63V DC and a capacitance range from 30 to 270 microF, enabling the ZF series capacitors to cater to both 12 and 48V systems. Like all hybrids, ZF Series devices are RoHS-compliant and AECQ-200-compliant.

Mustafa Khan, product marketing manager, capacitors at Panasonic commented: “Hybrid capacitors represent one of the fastest growing component segments in Europe and the introduction of a through-hole type at the highest temperature possible in the electrolytic world ensures that Panasonic can cater even to niche demands in automotive and industrial.”
