4K-ready Pico-ITX board suits IIoT applications
Based on the quad core Intel Atom x5-E3940 processor (code name: Apollo Lake), the PICO317 is a fanless Pico-ITX single board computer (SBC) released by Axiomtek.
The 2.5-inch embedded board can withstand a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +70 degrees and is suitable for use in harsh and space-constrained environments, advises Axiomtek. The board has dual-display capability through 4K-ready-HDMI and 18/24-bit single/dual channel LVDS. The rugged design and high-speed processing make the PICO317 suitable for a variety of industrial IoT applications, including industrial automation, transportation and retail equipment.
The PICO317 was developed in response to increasing demand for imaging processing and includes an Intel integrated Gfx graphic engine. The low power industrial motherboard has a full-size PCI Express Mini Card slot supporting mSATA for wireless and storage. There are three USB 3.0 ports which connect with industrial cameras for machine vision applications. The customisable PICO317 is fanless and compact for industrial IoT (IIoT) applications and is designed for easy installation, says Axiomtek.
The PICO317 supports one DDR3L-1867 SO-DIMM slot with up to 8Gbyte of system memory. It is equipped with one Gigabit Ethernet port with Intel i211AT which supports wake-on-LAN and PXE Boot ROM. There are other I/O interfaces, namely two RS-232 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, three USB 3.0 ports, one HD Codec audio and one SATA-600 slot.
The Pico-ITX board’s SMBus is compatible with I2C for smart battery support. A 5V DC input meets the needs of industrial applications, with AT auto power-on function. A watchdog timer offers hardware monitoring functions to detect CPU/system temperature and voltage for reliable operation.
