AT circular connector is designed for vehicle diagnostics

Able to withstand 100 mating cycles, the RoHS-compliant AT circular connector has been introduced by Amphenol.

The industry standard, on-vehicle data plug connectors are designed for vehicle diagnostic and data communication in heavy-duty lorries and buses.

The three- and five-pole standard electrical plugs improve the quantity and quality of options offered by the ATC series, says Amphenol and the nine-pole connector provides a J1939 solution of receptacle/contacts/accessories.  SAE J1939 is a specified type of controller area network (CAN) that defines the communication pathways for vehicle networks. Through a series of microprocessors, a CAN interconnects every device and establishes a common link between each other.

The AT connector supports CAN systems and helps electrical devices communicate with each other in in-vehicle systems, for example GPS tracking and CAN data communications for diagnostics of vehicle engine speed, temperature, oil temperature and exhaust emissions.

The round receptacles have simple jam nut mounting for quick assembly and a smaller flange that saves space on mating panels. The heavy-duty industrial connectors are environmentally sealed against moisture and contaminants. They also feature a reverse bayonet coupling design that allows for quick mating and unmating. They can withstand more than 100 mating cycles.

The RoHS-compliant connectors work with industry standard size 16 contacts and are made from high quality copper alloy.  Nickel and gold plating are available.

The AT circular connectors have an operating temperature range of -55 to +125 degrees C.

Amphenol Industrial Operations is a division of Amphenol Corporation, one of the largest manufacturer of interconnect products.

Amphenol Industrial is headquartered in a 307,000 square foot facility in Sidney, New York, USA. It provides a full range of high reliability power/signal connectors and interconnection systems specifically for the industrial markets including rail/mass transit, process control, automotive manufacturing, heavy equipment, wireless base stations and petrochemical/power generation.

Products include ruggedised-for-industry cylindrical, fibre optic, rectangular, and industrialised versions of Amphenol’s MIL-DTL-5015 cylindrical, MIL-DTL-26482 miniature cylindrical and GT reverse bayonet cylindrical connectors. The facility is ISO9001, TS96949 and MIL-STD-790 certified.
