Circulator for radar systems are surface mount design

A robust lead circulator from Skyworks is a single junction, surface mount design, intended for radar and power amplifier applications. The SKYFR-001982 is available from Skyworks.

The 1200 to 1400MHz circulator has an operating temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C.

The industry-standard surface-mount package is designed for automated SMT placement in L-Band radar systems and wireless applications. It has high power level handling with minimal thermal rise, says Skyworks, providing a flow path for the RF signal as well as protection for sensitive components from excess signal reflection.

The SKYFR-001982 is the latest in Skyworks’ broad portfolio of circulator and isolator products for radars for both military and commercial applications. Its average power output is 200W with an impedance 50 Ohms. Insertion loss is 0.30dB, isolation is 20dB and return loss is 20dB.

The compact housing is steel with silver plating, with silver plated brass pins, suitable for automated pick and place machines.

The circulators is RoHS-compliant.

Skyworks’ describes its range of ferrite circulators and isolators as cost competitive and able to deliver industry-leading insertion loss performance. They can be designed into both military and commercial applications. The models in the portfolio assure clean transmit signals by offering low insertion loss and superior intermodulation distortion (IMD) performance, adds the company.

Skyworks Solutions says it is empowering the wireless networking revolution. Its analogue semiconductors connect people, places and things spanning a number of applications within the aerospace, automotive, broadband, cellular infrastructure, connected home, industrial, medical, military, smartphone, tablet and wearable markets.

Skyworks is a global company with engineering, marketing, operations, sales and support facilities located throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
