DC/DC converter duo have wide 10:1 ratio

DC/DC converters in half- and quarter-brick footprints developed by Murata Power Solutions are high power density modules with efficiency levels above 91 per cent with a 16 to 160Vdc input voltage range.
The 250W IRH-W80 is a half-brick version and the 150W IRQ-W80 is a quarter brick module.

Both are designed for embedded applications in the railway and industrial sectors. They comply with the requirements of EN50155, and are supplied with qualification reports for shock, vibration, extreme temperatures and humidity.

The 250W IRH-W80 and 150W IRQ-W80 modules have a baseplate operating ambient temperature range of -40 to 100 degrees C. Single 12, 24 and 54V output models are available with galvanic isolation between the input and output in excess of 4kVdc.

Features include remote enable on/off, a wide output voltage adjustment range of ±10 per cent, remote sense, hold up function, pulse out feature, positive or negative enable and over-current protection adjustment. The adjustable under-voltage lockout protection feature prevents deep discharge of supplying batteries. The modules also feature self-protection to external short circuits, over-current protection, and over-temperature protection with self-resetting ability.

Typical applications include powering equipment on board trains, such as infotainment, communications and lighting, and from a wide range of battery voltages, that require a reliable DC source. The modules also can be used in other industrial applications that operate from batteries in harsh environments.

Murata Power Solutions also offers evaluation boards for the 250W IRH-W80 and 150W IRQ-W80; available on request.

Murata manufactures electronic components, modules and devices. Its range includes ceramic capacitors, resistors/thermistors, inductors/chokes, timing devices, buzzers, sensors and EMI suppression filters. In addition to ceramic capacitors, the company also produces Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules, board-mount DC/DC converters and standard and custom AC/DC power supplies.

Established in 1944, Murata is headquartered in Japan and has European offices in Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
