Fujitsu Components samples Bluetooth 5.0 dual mode wireless modules
For simplified, flexible design options and reduced time to market, the FWM7BTZ61 series of Bluetooth Version 5.0 (dual mode) wireless radio modules are compatible with both Bluetooth Low Energy and legacy Bluetooth Classic Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate (BR/EDR), says Fujitsu Components America. The module also supports Bluetooth Version 5.0’s signature X2 communication.
The fully integrated FWM7BTZ61 series is powered by Cypress Semiconductor’s CYW20819 SoC. The symbol rate and data rate accommodates both 1Mbits per second and improved 2Mbits per second to facilitate communication speed with other Bluetooth Low Energy devices. The Classic mode additionally supports 1Mbits per second (BR) and 2.0 and 3Mbits per second (EDR) communication.
There is also a wide range of operating voltages from 1.71 to 3.63V, to enable mating with various system design and power supply conditions, advises Fujitsu Components America.
There are two fully certified models, one contains serial port profile (SPP) for Bluetooth Classic, and GATT for Bluetooth Low Energy. One model replaces the GATT Direct Access profile with Fujitsu Components’ embedded firmware, which enables simple text-based commands via UART to control all Bluetooth commands and parameters and simplifies a customer’s firmware development. This module can also be connected to the Apple Authentication 3.0 Coprocessor (Auth. 3.0 CP) to send and receive data with application software on iOS devices.
Limited samples are available now.
