Fujitsu offers die shrink FRAM for IoT
Fujitsu Electronics Europe announces the first product of a new die shrink FRAM generation, the MB85RS2MTA.
The MB85RS2MTA is a 2Mbit FRAM device with SPI interface. In addition to commercial benefits, the MB85RS2MTA offers a series of technical advantages, promises Fujitsu. The maximum operating frequency has been increased from 25 to 40MHz at 3.0V supply, allowing customers to realise extreme high speed operations.
MB85RS2MTA also demonstrates a low power performance. It consumes a maximum 2.0mA active current at 40MHz. That is 20 per cent of that of the legacy product at 25MHz. At standby mode, MB85RS2MTA consumes maximum 50-micro A, which is one third of the legacy product. Sleep current is as low as 10-micro A. The lower power performance of the device makes the MB85RS2MTA suitable for IoT and wearable applications, where logging process takes place frequently, and where the power supply is extraordinarily limited.
As with all Fujitsu FRAM products, the MB85RS2MTA offers a high endurance of 1013 read/write cycles, a 10 years’ data retention at 85 degree C, as well as high speed and flexible write access.
MB85RS2MTA is supplied with an SOP eight-pin package and is in mass production.
Fujitsu Electronics Europe provides complex solutions developed in-house by Fujitsu (and former Fujitsu) companies and third-party manufacturers.
