Harwin adds 1.75mm diameter terminal pins

Suitable for use with larger-sized sockets where a single connection is required,  1.75mm diameter terminal pins have been introduced by Harwin.

It has been introduced to complement Harwin’s 1mm diameter terminal pins. The pins will be suitable for use with larger sockets where a single connection is required.

The new terminal pins have a current rating of over 9.0A, making them suitable for power applications. They are compatible with Harwin’s portfolio of single contact sockets and are straightforward to implement into a mating pair. They can act, for example, as mating pins for the larger Sycamore contacts, or the company’s twin beam surface mount PCB socket.

The Harwin terminal pins are intended for through-board soldering onto 1.6mm thickness PCBs. They are available inheights above the board of 5mm, 8.1mm, 9.5mm, 15.3mm and 21.65mm. They can accommodate wide variations in board-to-board distances, which are generally to be expected because of production tolerances. They are supplied with either tin or gold finishes and exhibit a high degree of durability for a prolonged working lifespan, says Harwin.

The terminal pins were introduced in response to growing demand for Sycamore and surface mount sockets in, for example, electric vehicle charging, but to date there have only been a very limited number of suitable terminal pins on the market, explains Neil Moore, product manager for EMC and industrial connectors at Harwin. “We can see definite opportunities for these new terminal pins in a multitude of sectors, including metering, instrumentation, satellites and robotics,” he added.

Harwin produces high reliability interconnect solutions for exacting applications, such as defence, aerospace, space, industrial, oil/gas and motorsport sectors.

Harwin’s product portfolio includes the Gecko (1.25mm pitch), Datamate (2.0mm pitch), Mix-Tek (combined signal, power and coax) and high temperature M300 (3.0mm pitch) lines. In addition, the company offers EMI/RFI shielding, a comprehensive portfolio PCB hardware (spacers, links, bridges, terminals, test points, etc) and a range of industry standard connectors. All products are available with short lead times via its sales and distribution network.

Harwin has sales offices and manufacturing facilities in the UK, the USA, Germany, France and Singapore.
