KEMET increases its ESD rated ceramic capacitor portfolio
The electrostatic discharge (ESD) rated ceramic capacitor series from Kemet now includes automotive and commercial grades in EIA 0402, 0603, 0805 and 1206 case sizes with voltage ratings of 16 to 250V DC.
The capacitors provide miniaturisation and enhanced flexibility to optimise ESD suppression, RF filtering, blocking, sensing, and circuit protection.
Kemet’s product portfolio offers additional case sizes, voltage ranges, capacitance values and ESD ratings with more options for an increased variety of customer applications. Design engineers can choose either X7R or C0G dielectric for circuits requiring Class-II or Class-I stability and noise performance with the ability to design to given ESD criteria per the Human Body Model (HBM) AEC-Q200-002.
ESD events may interrupt operation in a circuit and possible damage due to human contact. It is a major cause of electronic equipment failures during circuit assembly or in the field, says Kemet. Assembly line productivity can be reduced by as much as 33 per cent, reports the company. Kemet’s ESD rated capacitors enhance circuit protection of integrated circuits, and smaller dimensions simplify designs while minimising impact on the overall form factor.
Kemet manufactures electronic components, offering its customers a broad selection of capacitor technologies across all dielectrics. It also continues to expand its range of electromechanical devices, electromagnetic compatibility solutions and supercapacitors.
Kemet’s corporate headquarters are in South Carolina, USA. The company also operates manufacturing facilities, sales and distribution centres around the world.
