Keysight optimises 5G devices using MIMO to increase data throughput

A test solution announced by Keysight optimises the performance of 5G devices using MIMO and massive MIMO technology to increase data throughput and improve network capacity.

Keysight’s S8708A Advanced Performance Test Toolset enables an ecosystem of 84 5G device vendors to validate device performance under accurate and real-world conditions using 3D fading and mobility scenarios. The toolset includes the company’s PROPSIM FS16 or F64 channel emulator, UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform and 3D OTA multi-probe anechoic chambers, and supports test cases specified by 3GPP for MIMO over-the-air (OTA) testing in study item (TR38.827).

The Advanced Performance Test Toolset uses common logging, analysis and channel modelling tools to speed testing across the workflow in MIMO OTA test environments. It enables chipset and device makers, as well as test houses and mobile operators, to validate beam management, MIMO antenna performance and maximum data throughput of a 5G device across different massive MIMO configurations and 3D special fading conditions.

It also allows users to gain access to geometric channel models with high-capacity fading options as well as test cases specified by 3GPP across FR1 and FR2. Developer can also verify how a device performs by stressing the design in a 3D OTA test environment that uses multi-beam technology and multiple angles of arrival (AoA) to create accurate and realistic conditions.

Keysight Technologies helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world. Keysight’s solutions optimise networks and brings electronic products to market faster and at a lower cost via its design simulation, to prototype validation, to manufacturing test, to optimisation in networks and cloud environments.

Customers are located around the world in communications ecosystem, aerospace and defence, automotive, energy, semiconductor and general electronics end markets.
