MCX and MMCX cable assemblies save space in rugged applications
Secure, reliable mating using flexible 1.13mm micro-coax cable is offered with the MCX and MMCX to AMC and AMC4 assemblies available from Amphenol RF. The company has expanded its cable assembly portfolio with the 50 Ohm assemblies available in a variety of plug and jack configurations that terminate to miniature AMC and AMC4 connectors. The robust mechanical MCX design makes the assemblies suitable for more rugged applications with space constraints such as drones and consumer devices, advises Amphenol RF. The smaller MMCX to AMC or AMC4 cable assemblies are suitable in making connections between PCBs and modules in confined spaces for the IoT infrastructure.
MCX and MMCX connectors are manufactured with brass bodies while the AMC and AMC4 connectors have a gold or silver plated phosphor bronze body. The assembly’s the quick connect / disconnect snap‐on coupling mechanism offers secure and reliable mating, says Amphenol RF.
The cable assemblies join MCX and MMCX connectors that are designed to terminate to various micro‐coax cable types. These are often mounted externally on a panel while the micro‐coax termination is routed within an enclosure to mate with the appropriate PCB or adapter interface. Typical applications are external antennae with an MCX or MMCX plug interface.
Amphenol RF manufactures coaxial connectors for use in RF, microwave and data transmission system applications.
