Nautilus connector range has optional cap accessories

Providing an extra level of ingress protection, GradConn has extended the Nautilus range of IP-rated coaxial cable assemblies and connectors by adding Nautilus connector caps.

The optional cap accessories for the Nautilus range of IP-rated coaxial cable assemblies and connectors add further protection levels and are suitable for connections that predominantly stay unmated for extended periods.

The caps achieve an IP67 seal with SMA (rear mount), N-Type, and TNC versions of the Nautilus range. They can also be used as dust caps for non-Nautilus variants of these connector types. The brass alloy caps are finished in nickel plating (N and TNC) or gold plating (SMA) and are available with or without chain attachment.

The IP67-rated caps help prevent the build-up of moisture, dust, and dirt from collecting in the connector’s mating face. Nautilus connectors are sealed unmated to IP68 by virtue of the design of the internal contact seal. The caps will be beneficial to applications where connections are exposed in harsh environments. These apply to outdoor portable equipment requiring connections to be made and disconnected regularly and where an antenna is not in use and to help prevent the collection of dust and dirt.

Determining whether a coaxial connector cap has environmentally sealed properties can be a challenge. There is a lack of clarity and consistency with the information available, making it difficult for design engineers to select the right cap for their application, says GradConn.

The company’s caps are thoroughly tested to industry standard, to ensure performance and quality for an IP-rated connector cap. The information is clear and easily accessible on GradConn product resources and drawings, with test reports also available for further reference.

The Nautilus connector caps are now available from distributor, Digi-Key.

GradConn is a connector manufacturer specialising in wireless connectivity, including SIM card connectors and coaxial cable assemblies. Its portfolio also includes board to board connectors from 1.00 to 5.08mm pitch spacing, wire to board solutions in 0.8, 1.00 and 1.2mm pitches.

GradConn is headquartered in Taiwan with manufacturing facilities in China and Taiwan.

Manufacturing facilities are accredited to ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2004 for assurance about stringent quality control systems and the consistent production of quality components. All parts are fully RoHS-compliant. There are also high temperature insulator materials to withstand RoHS reflow solder processes.
