Omron unveils compact 500VDC relay for charging circuits
To pre-charge circuits in electric vehicle chargers, battery back-up systems for solar panels and other high current DC applications, Omron Electronic Components Europe has announced the G2RG-X compact power relay.
It has a high switching capacity and high isolation, making it suitable for inrush current control, for example to protect the peripheral circuits when storage battery charging is initiated. It is also suitable for energy storage systems, inverters, servos, power supplies and uninterruptible power supplies.
The OMRON G2RG-X achieves 500V DC, 10A switching capacity yet has a footprint of just 13.5 x 29.0mm and a height of 26.5mm, with a 3.0mm contact gap.
There relays also deliver a high level of isolation, with an insulation distance of over 8.0mm and an impulse withstand voltage of 10kV between coil and contacts.
The G2RG-X has a low coil power consumption of just 0.8W and uses just one coil, instead of two which are conventionally used. This further reduces energy loss, says Omron. The relay is designed for two-pole series wiring, and has an electrical durability of 10,000 operations in this configuration. The relay is UL and TÜV -certified.
Omron Electronic Components Europe supplies electromechanical PCB relays, as well as micro switches, MOSFET relays, DIP switches, photo-micro sensors and connectors. Omron’s technology portfolio includes MEMS-based pressure, flow and thermal measurement sensors, human face and gesture recognition modules, vibration and tilt sensors.
Omron Electronic Components Europe supports customers in western and eastern Europe, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) through eight regional offices, a network of local offices and partnerships with specialist, local, regional and global distributors.
Omron Electronic Components Europe is a subsidiary of the Omron Corporation, which specialises in electrical and electronic control equipment and component products.
