Recom develops two buck regulator power modules with 3D Power Packaging

Power modules from Recom have high levels of integration and wide input and output voltage ranges. The two buck regulator power modules, the RPX-1.0 and RPX-1.5, are available in miniature, thermally-enhanced 3.0 x 5.0mm QFN packages with a 1.6mm profile.

They feature 3D Power Packaging technology in which construction is over-moulded Flip Chip on Leadframe (FCoL) with an integrated, shielded inductor. According to Recom, this results in low EMI and high electrical and thermal performance. Each converter has an input range of 4.0 to 36V DC and an adjustable output between 0.8 and 30V DC, set by external resistors.

The RPX-1.0 is rated at 1A and the RPX-1.5 at 1.5A, each has a typical full-load efficiency of 87 per cent and minimal light load losses. Depending on input/output voltage and load, peak efficiency can be over 95 per cent, advises Recom, and ambient operating temperature is over 100 degrees C.

The modules are protected against short-circuit, over-current, over-temperature and input under-voltage. They are also equipped with enable, power good, soft start and external sync features. There are evaluation boards to facilitate rapid testing.

Matthew Dauterive, product manager, at Recom, said: “The wide input and output ranges of these highly integrated parts are ideal for 5.0, 12, or 24V nominal systems in industrial and motor control, ATE, medical, imaging and high-density power systems generally”.

Samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorised distributors or directly from Recom.

Recom manufactures standard and customised DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class from sub-1W to 10s of kW, alongside switching regulators and LED drivers in a selection of formats.

The company headquarters are located in Gmunden, Austria, and include a logistics research and development centre and laboratory wing and is supported by a worldwide distribution network.
