RF modules make up LPWAN  for IIoT

RF modules using IEEE 802.15.4g/e make up a low power wide area network (LPWAN) that is optimised for industrial IoT (IIoT) applications,

The modules in the RIIoT network provide bi-directional communications with short transmission pulses that enable dense networks with high reliability and very low power, explains Radiocrafts.

The compact RF module is simple to set up and offers a novel solution to interface any sensor or actuator, the Intelligent C-programmable I/O (ICI). Customers can create complex applications managing and interfacing sensors and actuators in less than 100 lines of C-code, removing the need for an external microcontroller in the leaf node.

A complete RIIoT network includes sensor nodes based on the RC1880-SPR module, a gateway based on the RC1880-GPR module, and the RIIoT-NET, a Linux software that can run on any commercial gateway that is Linux based and has an SPI or USB interface.

The RIIoT LPWAN does not require a licence or subscription, and is very low power. A sensor node can run on a 500mAh coin cell battery for five years with updates every few minutes.

Operation frequency is 868 or 915MHz. The star network topology supports several hundred nodes in a network and has a range of up to 8k, and a line of sight of kbits per second.

It is suitable for cloud applications, via Java Script object notation (JSON) objects.

Radiocrafts designs and manufactures compact, low power RF modules for a large number of wireless applications using licence-free ISM bands. Modules are based on standardised hardware platforms with silicon from leading suppliers. Radiocrafts adds firmware to enable the module to be both user-friendly and support a wide range of wireless technologies. OEMS without RF design knowledge can use the modules to add wireless technology into a design, reducing time-to-market, the cost of design, test and compliance approvals.

Radiocrafts also offers custom and application specific product development, supporting customers from initial project ideas to volume product delivery.
