Schaffner extends ecosine evo passive harmonic filters

Two harmonic filters have been added to Schaffner’s range. The FN 3442 and FN 3443 for 380 to 415V AC 60Hz networks are dedicated passive harmonic filters for three-phase diode and thyristor rectifiers.

The FN 3442 and FN 3443 can achieve a total harmonic current distortion (THiD) of five per cent or less and without a DC-link choke included in the drive. The compact passive harmonic filters guarantee compliance with the toughest requirements of IEEE-519 and other stringent international power quality standards, reports Schaffner.

The filters offer rated power with minimal reactive power, even at partial or no-load conditions. When incorporating ecosine evo filters the electrical infrastructure can be used more efficiently and reliably, says Schaffner. In addition, the service life cycle of electrical equipment is extended, and energy costs can be reduced, claims the company.

The FN 3442 and FN 3443 join the existing six product families of ecosine evo filters available from Schaffner, the FN 3440/ FN3441, FN 3450/FN 3451 and FN 3452/FN 3453. The ecosine evo can now cover networks of 380 to 500V AC, 50/60Hz.

Ecosine evo filters FN 3442/FN 3443 are available with standard power ratings from one to 240HP (0.9 to 177kW). They are available as open frame IP 00 (-E0XXXXX, -E0FAXRX, -E0FAJRX) and IP 20 (-E2FAJRX) versions. All FN 3442/43 filters are CE-marked, UL listed and RoHS-compliant.

The Schaffner Group’s portfolio includes EMC filters, power magnetic components, power quality filters and the related services. For the automotive industry, Schaffner develops and manufactures antennas used in keyless entry systems for cars, and filters for hybrid and electric vehicles and their charging infrastructure. Schaffner components are deployed in electronic motor controls, in wind power and photovoltaic systems, rail technology applications, machine tools and robots, electrical infrastructure, and in power supplies for electronic devices.

Headquartered in Switzerland, Schaffner serves its customers through its engineering and manufacturing centres in Asia, Europe and North America.
