Sub-compact board from Aaeon is based on Intel’s Comet Lake
For industrial and artificial intelligence (AI) edge applications, Aaeon has introduced the GENE-CML5 sub-compact board, with 10th Generation Intel Core processors (formerly known as Comet Lake). The 3.5-inch board features the LGA1200 socket 10th Generation Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors and the Intel Pentium and Celeron processors. Despite its small form factor, it supports processors up to 4.4GHz CPU frequency and leverages the socket-type chipset to allow developers and end-users to easily maintain, scale, and upgrade to suit processing requirements.
Combined with 64Gbyte DDR4 memory, the GENE-CML5 delivers fast processing speeds on a par with desktop systems, says Aaeon. The chipset allows the compact board to take advantage of Intel vPro and Intel Active Management Technology (iAMT), for remote system monitoring and management.
The board can be expanded and integrated into existing projects for AI edge computing to applications. The board’s I/O layout includes two USB3.2 Gen 2 ports, four USB2.0 ports, and dual Gigabit LAN ports. There is a choice of display options, including DP++, VGA and LVDS connectors.
An M.2 2280 M-Key slot can support AI expansion modules, as well as NVMe storage. Additionally, users have access to four PCIe 3.0 expansion ports with FPC connector. Other storage options include two SATA III (6.0 Gbits per second) slots, to increase storage expansion.
The GENE-CML5 is a compact form factor, suitable for desktop performance and for deploying AI edge applications. Aaeon offers manufacturing support and OEM/ODM services which enable developers to customise boards including I/O layouts to suit a particular application’s needs.
