Surface mount board to board connectors save ‘precious’ space says W+P

Every mm inside electronic units is precious, says W+P, to ensure a compact interior in the smallest of spaces. The company believes its board to board connector series 9025 and 9026 answer the challenge of limited spatial conditions.

The connector series 9025 and 9026 have a 1.27mm pitch and are characterised by compactness, flexibility and reliability, says the company. The connectors expand the W+P range of PCB-to-PCB interfaces, which meet the growing demand for a low number of contacts with a small pitch. Ideally, the two single row series are deliverable from just 02 contacts, with a maximum of 12 contacts possible.

Another advantage is the variable PCB orientation – with both vertical and horizontal connectors available, to offer a wide range of possibilities to combine PCBs vertically, horizontally or at right angles.

An integrated enclosure locking system on the female header ensures a secure connection. It has simultaneous reverse polarity protection, which is internally supported by guide edges, for a secure connection. Lateral solder clips fasten the male and female headers securely to the PCB.

Contact pins and the double-sided spring contacts of the female header are selectively gold-plated. These can be used up to a maximum current rating of 5.0A.

Special locating pegs allow a user to align the connector to a defined position on the PCB.

The series 9025 and 9026 are available in tape and reel packaging and there is an option for a pick-and-place pad for the series 9025 connector. The insulators are made of thermoplastic material according to UL94 V-0. Reliable functionality is guaranteed in a temperature range from -55 to +125 degrees C.

The connectors are designed for PCB connection as well as to connect internal and external devices in automation engineering in embedded computing, as well as for industrial applications.

Samples of the series are available free of charge on request.
