Telonic Instruments supplies Kikusui’s PWR-01 benchtop power supplies

Telonic Instruments announces the UK release of the Kikusui PWR-01 series of programmable benchtop DC power supplies.

The PWR-01 series is made up of 12 instruments, offering 400, 800 and 1200W rated power output and maximum rated voltages up to 650V.

The power supplies are equipped with a four-times voltage and current variable ratio, making this one of the most versatile range of DC power supplies on the market today, says Telonic.

Variable internal impedance allows for various simulations suitable for automotive test and other battery-driven applications, as well as solar-panel evaluation. The PWR-01 can be used as an alternative power source to batteries, for agility testing of engine control units (ECUs), on-board electronic components or for driving power sources for sensors, adds Telonic.

Using Wavy sequence creation software, engineers can create simple simulations such as actuator or sensor operations, and rise/fall of power supplies in multiple channels. This makes the PWR-01 supplies particularly suited to automotive developers creating advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), including lane keeping systems, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and car navigation.

The PWR-01 is also equipped with a soft-start function that limits the inrush current, minimising any harmful effects to devices under test (DUTs) such as DC motors. The power supplies are also equipped with ergonomic power setting knobs, allowing the operator to control voltage and current independently, as well as front-facing banana plugs designed for safety and convenience.

The programmable internal memory allows the engineer to save custom sequences on the power supply, eliminating the need to access a PC every time a test is conducted.

Synchronised operation allows for more complex sequences over multiple channels for accurate testing of DC/DC converters and other products.

The versatile power supplies have   LAN (LXI), USB, and RS-232 interfaces included as standard. The PWR-01 power supplies can be operated in almost any testing environment via standard commands for programmable instruments (SCPIs), to facilitate system integration in a wide variety of conditions, notes Telonic.

The rugged power supplies have a guaranteed operating temperature of up to 50 degree C (122 degree F).
