UPC provides heavy duty apps with continuous power to 500A

UPC 14mm ideal for use in heavy duty equipment and electric vehicles for battery and power distribution units (PDU’s)

Designed to be used in heavy equipment and electric vehicles and with continuous power at 500A is the 14mm plastic universal power connector (UPC) series from Amphenol Industrial Operations.

The UPC 14mm features Amphenol’s Radsok technology for higher amperage, low voltage drop, less resistance and lower T-rise..

The connector’s twisted grid configuration allows for up to 50 per cent more current to pass through the same size pin and provides electrical ratings up to 1000VAC and 500A at 50 degrees C ambient. At the same time it provides increased reliability, cycle durability and lower mating forces, says the company.

Offering a quick lock and release function, a second lock function for high voltage and current connections and a keyway design to prevent incorrect mating, the UPC 14mm meets an IP67 rating when mated and can withstand a minimum of 100 mating cycles.

Amphenol Industrial Operations – headquartered in a 20,000 square foot facility in Endicott, New York – provides a full range of high reliability power/signal connectors and interconnection systems specifically for the industrial markets including rail/mass transit, process control, automotive manufacturing, heavy equipment, wireless base stations and petrochemical/power generation.

Products include ruggedised-for-industry cylindrical, fibre optic, rectangular, and industrialised versions of Amphenol’s MIL-DTL-5015 cylindrical, MIL-DTL-26482 miniature cylindrical and GT reverse bayonet cylindrical connectors.
