W+P offers two pitch choices for wire-to-board IDC connectors

The option to process larger cable cross sections is provided with the W-t-B insulation displacement connector (IDC) series 601 and 602 from W+P Products.

The IDC 601 and IDC 602 are claimed to facilitate faster line connection. The connectors can be easily installed in the field, says the company, using a hand tool.

The IDC area of the series 601 is designed for a cable cross section of AWG 28 to AWG 22, with a pitch of 2.54mm. The cable cross section of the series 602 is configured for AWG 24 to AWG 18, with a pitch of 3.96mm.

The female headers of both series can be supplied as pass-through or end options, and the 601 is also available with or without coding. There is a choice of pin headers, which can be straight or right-angled version, in addition to a latching option. Protective caps are also available; these can be used to ensure a safe connection and a strain relief (female headers).

W+P says that the IDC 601 and IDC 602 can replace established products that are already on the market. They use a copper alloy as contact material and have current and voltage ratings of 3.0A and 250V AC for the series 601 and 5.0A and 600V AC for the series 602.

The number of contacts ranges from two to 16 for the series 601 and two to 20 for the series 602. Pin headers for the 601 series, however, can be procured right up to a 40-pin version.

The insulator material consists of thermoplastic in accordance with UL94 V-2 and UL94 V-0. Safe functionality is guaranteed within a temperature range of -25 to +85 degrees C, and the connectors are suitable for wave solder processing.

An example application is the production of power supply lines.

W+P Products has been producing and distributing a varied product range of connectors for all PCB-related applications since 1994.

From high-quality precision connectors to reliable mass components, W+P offers an appropriate component in production-ready types of packaging for any requirement.

The full-service provider covers the entire range of possible pitches and assembly options.
